TeNDER’s QoL Assessment methodology to be presented at conference in Corfu

Agostino Chiaravalloti from UNITOV will present the Quality of Life Assessment Methodology developed and implemented by TeNDER at the PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA) conference, which will be held in Corfu island (Greece) from the 29 June to 1 July 2022. The paper submitted to the conference has been accepted for publication and oral presentation at the QUESTION workshop.

PETRA is a highly interdisciplinary conference that focuses on computational and engineering approaches to improve quality of life and enhance human performance in a wide range of settings; e.g., in the workplace, at home, in public spaces, and in urban environments, among others. The outcomes of this conference have a broad impact in areas that include manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, energy systems, security and safety, robotics, biomedicine, environment and conservation, and many others.

PETRA brings together very different types of technologies that also help address important social and healthcare issues for sensitive populations, such as the elderly, and persons suffering from chronic conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Cerebral Palsy.

The TeNDER consortium is performing five large-scale pilots to test services targeting patients, their caregivers, and care professionals. The paper that will be presented at PETRA  covers the background of the TeNDER quality of life (QoL) assessments, including the methods, contents, aims, and objectives, and the significance of the QoL assessments in the project.

We will also present a description of the QoL assessment questionnaires for participants (patients, caregivers, professionals) elaborated by the TeNDER consortium. The objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to QoL in the TeNDER project guided the QoL indicators’ creation. The standardized 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey questionnaire has been selected for the assessment of Health Related-QoL of patients involved in the project, by comparing the pre-piloting and the post-piloting assessments.

Moreover, other aspects of the QoL of the stakeholders and the working conditions of health/social professionals involved in the project are assessed with TeNDER user experience questionnaires (another set of questionnaires created by the consortium). Quality of Life is a driving force in this project and it is people-centred. The aim is to improve not only the QoL of patients but also those who surround and support them.
